Emergency Response

PTF supports WCCA’s emergency plan to handle disasters like earthquakes and man-made tragedies. According to the Association of Bay Area Governments, up to 12 times more roads and highways are estimated to be closed following future major Bay Area earthquakes than occurred in either the Loma Prieta or Northridge earthquakes (up to 1,600 closures). In addition, recent terrorist bombings have reinforced their concern of roads and highways being closed or traffic slowed due to disasters. WCCA is prepared to ride out such disasters and care for the students until they can be picked up. The school administration conducts fire and earthquake drills, as well as intruder and chemical alerts.  All teachers and staff have received certified CPR and first-aid training.

Although PTF does not maintain a formal Emergency Response committee, we budget money each year to restock the supplies in the Emergency Backpacks in each classroom. PTF maintains the emergency supplies kept in a storage container behind the gym as well. The emergency supplies include drinking water, blankets, medical supplies, and student emergency forms. We also have added enough MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat) to supply food for everyone for 2 days (if necessary). We have several Yerts (expandable tents) and portable toilets in the event of severe emergency.

Local phone lines may be out of service after a major disaster. However, out-of-state phone lines usually work. If you are unable to reach the school, you may call the Albany Christian School in Oregon at (541) 928-1110. WCCA administration will update them with information on the school’s condition.
