ALL-SCHOOL NIGHT

Tomorrow, MAY 8, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

We invite you to come and see the many accomplishments the students have made through the year, to include travel brochures, simple machines, dioramas, and outdoor education videos.  All-School Night will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. in the gym.  After a time of welcome and announcements, all classrooms will be open.  Please make sure that your children remain with you throughout the evening.  This event is designed to be a family time, and we ask that no children roam or visit rooms without supervision.  After seeing your child’s work, you may want to take the opportunity to visit next year’s classroom(s) to get a glimpse of what lies ahead.

Student Highlights

Our very own Charlie Baggett in 8th grade will be singing this month.  You can go to the www.voena.org website to get all of the details and dates for the performances.  This website will also have the details of the Jefferson Award that Voena’s Choir Director recently received.

PTF Positions for 2008 – 2009

With only four weeks of school left, we are beginning to plan for next year.  We are looking for parents who would be willing to be a part of the PTF leadership team next year as some of our parents will be “graduating” (along with their child).

Are you a good organizer?  Do you enjoy meeting and working with other parents?  Want to be involved in activities that benefit WCCA?  We have some great opportunities available as the following positions are opening up:

Fundraiser Coordinators (to help coordinate our Jog-A-Thon and Spring Fundraiser)

Fellowships Coordinator (help plan 3-4 events for families to get together outside of school for fun and fellowship)

Grandparents Day Chair (coordinate our Grandparents Day event)

E-scrip and Recycle Program Chair (help coordinate the collection of cartridges and E-scrip program)

Don’t have any experience serving in this capacity?  No problem, we will help orient you to your job and give you great support along the way…all you need is a willing heart and an interest in serving!  If you think you might be willing to consider one of these positions, please contact Cindy Bolter at (925) 934-0399 or at tobinscool@aol.com with the subject header “PTF.”

   Thanks for considering these opportunities.

PTF Skating Fellowship

This is the last fellowship of the year, so come and join us at the Golden Skate in San Ramon on Thursday, May 15, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.  The price of admission is $5 for each person plus the additional fee for skates, unless you bring your own.  This is Teacher Appreciation Night at the rink so teachers are FREE!  Be sure to bring those cameras because we hear Funniest Home Videos is in need of some good footage.

Lost and Found

All lost and found items:  clothes, umbrellas, toys, jewelry, eyeglasses, etc. will be on display Thursday in the Library during All-School Night.  Please be sure to stop by and check for your child’s clothing, etc.!!

Library Link

All items from the library are due back no later than Mon., May 19th.  If you have a special need to have your item a few days longer, please make arrangements with Mrs. Clopton.

Please pay all fines ASAP.  If missing books from earlier this year have still not been found, please see Mrs. Clopton and she will provide you with replacement costs.  Please take care of all library business by May 23.

WCCA Summer Club

Is your student looking to have a “whale of a time” this summer?  There are still some openings left in Extended Care.  WCCA Summer Club will run from June 2 through August 1, and is available for WCCA students who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade and whose account is current.  The hours will be 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday through Friday (except for the holidays).  If you would like us to hold a spot for your child, please turn in the registration fee of only $75 (non-refundable).  The WCCA Summer Club fee may be made in one payment of $1568, due June 1, or in two installments of $784 each, due June 1 and July 1.  The discount for a second child in the 9-week program is $375.

New this year, you will have the chance to attend on a weekly basis.  The weekly program fee is $185 per week, along with the one time registration fee of $60.

Primary Points

The Primary Department is excited about All-School Night tomorrow and hopes that many people will take advantage of the opportunity to tour the school and check out the classrooms.

Activity Day is approaching quickly, and the Primary Department will be spending the day at Larkey Park.  A BBQ, games, and many more fun activities are planned for this special day.  Please contact Mrs. Phillips if you are available to help in any way.
